ChatGPT Pro supports read-only custom MCP apps in developer mode. Business, Enterprise, and Edu workspaces add broader workspace controls.

  1. 1Open Settings, then Apps and Advanced settings, and enable Developer mode. A workspace admin may need to grant access first.
  2. 2Create a custom app, enter the MCP URL, and review the six read-only tools.
  3. 3Connect the app, sign in to SEO Receipts, and choose the properties ChatGPT may read.

Read-only access

You choose the properties each AI connection can read.

Authorization shows the requesting AI client and every available Search Console property. You select one or more properties and a default. A tool request for any other property is rejected before SEO Receipts calls Google.

  • Google read-only scope

    The connection cannot edit your site, settings, users, or sitemaps.

  • Separate OAuth grants

    Each AI client receives its own revocable grant. Google credentials never appear in tool results.

  • 15-minute result cache

    Access tokens expire after one hour; rotating refresh tokens expire after 30 days.

  • Usage events exclude Search Console content

    Usage events contain tool names and timing. Query text, page URLs, and Search Console rows stay out of PostHog.

The defaults keep broad questions fast. Ask for exact dates, dimensions, filters, and row limits when you need a narrower result.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Fix a connection or incomplete result.

The AI client does not show any tools.OPEN +

Refresh the connector or MCP server inside the client. If that does not work, remove the connection, add the MCP URL again, and complete authorization in the same browser session.

No Search Console properties appear during authorization.OPEN +

Confirm that the connected Google account has access to at least one Search Console property. Add or verify the property in Search Console, then refresh Google access from the SEO Receipts dashboard.

The latest dates are missing.OPEN +

Final Search Console data arrives after a delay. The default window ends on the latest finalized date that Google returns. Ask for fresh data when you need the newest partial rows.

A query returns fewer rows than expected.OPEN +

Google returns bounded top rows and can omit anonymized queries. Increase the row limit up to 1,000 or narrow the date range and filters. The response marks whether SEO Receipts truncated the returned rows.

Google access has expired.OPEN +

Reconnect Google Search Console from your SEO Receipts dashboard, then run the tool again. Your AI connection remains separate and can be revoked on its own.
